There are currently only three 9 holes golf courses situation around the city of Wakefield suitable for all levels of golfer.
These three golf courses are situation and spread across Wakefield from a Northern and 2 slightly Southern locations, sadly there are no central 9 hole offerings. Don’t let that put you off as the distance between each of these from the centre of Wakefield see each one of these less than a 35 minute drive from the City Centre. What you do get when you drive from any city centre and especially in West Yorkshire are views and vistas to die for. All 3 of these courses have stunning backdrops with some such as Whitwood, still featuring local mining architecture as the backdrop to some of its holes.
Woolley Park 9 Hole Golf Course Wakefield
This 9 hole course in Wakefield is situated just across the road but is part of the Woolley 18 hole golf course complex.
The most expensive across the 3 courses currently on offer, but the price tag can easily be justified by the quality of the course and the number of green staff we saw when we were there. The course gently eases you into the game with several well distanced holes before starting to offer a lovely dogleg right over trees, following by a further challenging par 4.

Midgley Lodge 9 Hole Golf Course Wakefield
Midgley Lodge Golf Course is a purpose-built 9-hole course near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, which opened in May 2006.
The course features six par fours and three par threes, each defined by semi-mature trees that add a genuine challenge to your game. Built on hilly terrain, five of the holes take full advantage of the natural slopes. The standout is the longest hole, #4, which plays across the entire length of the course, finishing with a blind downhill green set across three tiers.
While most of the holes are relatively straight along the fairways, be cautious if you tend to slice, as you might find yourself needing to chip back onto your hole. As of November 2023, the club shop only accepts cash, with the nearest ATM being a 7-minute drive away, so make sure to bring enough money for your game and some cold snacks.
