A well located golf course in Wakefield
Situated within the M1/M62 corridor in West Yorkshire and 2 minutes from Junction 40 of the M1 (Wakefield/Dewsbury exit), Low Laithes golf course is easily accessible from all areas.
The course is a par 72 and measures 6445 yards, with a well-sized clubhouse with several amenities such as a function room and outdoor patio, there is also a small but modest golf shop offering everything you could need from bags, golf clubs, shoes, clothing etc…
A real mix of holes and contours
Unlike some courses where the terrain will stay the same across the majority of holes, this well-designed course boasts a real mix of difficult and challenging holes. This course has it all from water hazards, tight bunker placements, ravines, uphill and downhill fairways, each hole offers something new from its predecessor. Once you start to feel comfortable, the course will throw up another challenge to keep you on your toes.
In comparison to other courses in the area, then pound for pound and yard by yard, Low Laithes is up there with the best in giving you a round you’ll never forget.
A hole to remember
With a great choice of holes to reference, Hole #12 is one you’ll never forget. This Par 3 176 yard hole aptly named ‘The Gully’ is a real beauty. As the name suggests this hole is situated around a deep gully in the land separated by the tee and the green.
This hole is all about accuracy, you need to aim to the right-hand side of the green as the left-hand side dramatically slopes off down the hill. Beware of aiming too far right as there are high banks of rough grass that will also swallow your ball, making a chip shot onto the green a hard proposition as you’re wary of hitting it too hard, and the ball dropping off the edge of the sloping green down the hill.
Too many conflicts between tee and fairway and none of the 32 in our party could say for certain which tee was 14 and... which was 16. The ball is running really hard at this time of year but the course is not in bad condition. Decent catering and pleasant staff.read more

Beautiful course greens are in great condition, however the grey sand like stuff in the bunkers is horrible and... difficult to get out ruined my score. The 18th was the only bunker with proper sand and got out 1st time. Definitely needs to remove the grey sand and go back to the normal stuff other than that was a great dayread more
What a great find. Tucked away behind Odsal Stadium. Only 9 holes but the best 9 hole course I've ever played. Fairways... and greens in great condition. Friendly members that we met along the way. If it was closer I'd play here again soon but due to roadworks on motorway it took nearly an hour and a half from Wakefield. Overall, a really good round.read more

Course needing a bit of sun on greens, man driving lawn mower really annoyed me today, no sense of respect, sat on his... phone with engine running 10 yards from where we were putting. Seemed to harass us for 5-6 holes then went. Would have got a 4.5 star if not for the irritating groundsmen.read more
