A 9 hole Par 66 Golf Course set across Bradford’s stunning picturebook hill contours.

Blink and you will miss the entrance to the Golf Course, this little gem is hidden well down one of Bradford’s many valleys and hills. The car parking isn’t huge but this is reflective of the footfall of the area, there is a two-net system practice area found around the back of the clubhouse.

There is a well-kept putting green at the front of the clubhouse and if you are visiting early there is an honesty box to collect your scorecard near the club entrance. There are buggies to hire, but please contact the clubhouse to secure your booking before arriving.

The clubhouse is very well stocked in terms of food and drink and there is also a function room for hire, there are changing rooms and area for club storage but this is more focused to members rather than day visitors. There are open memberships available at the club from a 5 day at £450 and full 7 days access at £650.

As of September 2024 the cost of a 9 hole around is £12 weekday and £15 weekend with it rising to £20 for 18 holes. The value for money on this course is truly exceptional and as mentioned later on in this review, we saw 3 sets of groundskeeper across the course tending and trimming the key areas of the course.

Each hole on this course is unique and offers an exceptional level of variety.

The course is built on a sloping contour with the clubhouse situated on the top of the hill, with 5 of the 9 holes playing down or up this huge contour. Holes #2, #3, #4 offer a total difference in contours playing across the bottom of the course which crosses a mini valley and hole #6 plays across the top of the ridge.

What’s clever about this golf course is that each hole is very different, there are 4 doglegs and 5 straight holes but each has varying levels, water hazards, distance to travel, blind holes etc. The golf course designer needs to be really celebrated for their vision and practical application as each has been considered and carefully laid out to genuinely offer a really high level of enjoyment and challenge.

There is a level of fitness required for this golf course but with it being a 9-hole course or even 18-hole the average golfer will be able to get around relatively easily and (if needed) a trolley is easily manoeuvred across this course.

A hole to remember

Hole #2 named ‘The Well’ is a 299-yard, Par 4, dog leg left. The hole is shaped like a T bone steak, and the tee box presents only 1 option unless you can drive a comfortable and high 250-yard drive but it may simply be too much risk versus reward. The sensible option is to drive directly through the two tree features and safely onto the middle of the fairway.

Beware any shanks or dud’s off the tee box as there is a hidden hazard which is ‘The Well’ where there is a hidden valley with a water feature running directly across the middle of the course approx 120 yards from the tee box.

What awaits an accurate drive is a very ample fairway and a well-sized green to aim for. Again on this hole is a hidden water feature and two tricky bunkers protecting the front of the green.

The groundstaff keep the greens looking great and running perfectly, we arrived around 7:30 am and they were already tending to the course, and it is a total credit to the commitment they put into running and maintaining this course.
