7 out of the 9 holes is a chance for a hole in 1
Consisting of 6 par 3’s and 3 par 4’s it’s more about your short game than anything else on this course.
And yeah that’s right, if you are chasing to become a member of the hole in 1 club then this is the course to practice! Even 1 of the par 4’s is easily drivable to get onto the green so your chances have never been better.
It’s not without it’s faults but this golf course still offers a genuine challenge
Let’s be honest paying £5 for 18 holes you can’t really grumble, but don’t expect the highest of golfing standards. The greens are cut short but are more like the average fairway, and the bunkers are overgrown and are part sand part soil, and weeds. There’s a huge hole in the middle of the fairway on hole 6, which reminds me of the Sarlacc pit from Return of the Jedi, but this adds to the difficulty of the course.
The course is quite compact and has thin fairways, so a slice or hook shot will see your ball lost on the tramlines or in the canal pending on which side of the course you are playing. Each hole is planned well with varying challenges and semi-mature trees that define the edges so it does have the look and feel of a typical golf course.
A hole to remember
Hole #4 is probably my favourite, due to the factor that this feels most like a ‘proper’ golf course (apologies city golf for that comment). This is a blind, slight dogleg left hole, with the green in a drivable position if you go over the trees.
The green is surrounded by high raised ground and is tree-lined making this, not only very picturesque but also an aid if you do drive the green, these add as a buffer to hopefully bounce your ball back onto the green.
For a £5 ( golf ) this has to be given a big mention ok so the greens arnt up there with Augusta ... but for the price... & seeing the greenkeepers out cutting fairways & doing there best to make it an enjoyable experience be you a beginner or novice you can't go wrong. Then there's the 19th hole friendly staff & a quality pint gets 5 stars from me. Keep up the great work 👍read more
Suitable for some practice, no wow factor. The price for a bucket is fair and a discounted multibuy card is available.... The bays are safe and the mats are a good quality. The range length is approximately 270 yards. There is no Trackman and the range is sloped downwards enough to have an impact.read more
A great place to practice for very little cash. Obviously its not a championship course for £5 a go but it is... definitely good value for a quick round if you are a beginner. Some challenging holes and lots of easy ones. A few greens in poor condition but that's probably due to the weather. Definitely worth a visit.read more
Challenging course. Very wet with a lit of ground under repair but can't expect anything else in winter. A couple if... interactions with members which I would not consider as friendly. I think I will golf elsewhere.read more
Great place for a nice quick game of golf, it has really reasonable prices, the course itself is not that big but it’s... perfect for me who’s just starting out playing golf with my wife. They also have golf carts you can borrow for a pound.Just like every golf course in the world this golf course is best played in the sun shine, afterwards you can also pop in to goals for a well earned pint 😁read more
